The secret of leaders who perform
without anxiety:
meet Tonos

How Elisa de Lima turned her struggle against anxiety into a brain reset technique that has already changed more than 6,000 lives — including Caito Maia's

By Fernanda Sodré

29 years ago, Elisa was at her limit. Anxiety, depression, chronic stress. Until she met Dr. Eduvaldo Dorta and discovered something revolutionary: a technique capable of performing a complete reset of the brain in 20 minutes — equivalent to two nights of sleep.

The transformation was so radical that, in 2007, she became a teacher of the technique and developed her own approach: Tonos.

Certified by the Maharishi European Research University, Elisa has already taught more than 6,000 people. Among executives, entrepreneurs and creatives, all arrived at the limit of high performance driven by anxiety.

What brain reset is and how it works

We live in constant alert. Emails, notifications, deadlines. The brain was not designed for this without regenerative pauses. The result? Chronic anxiety, mental fatigue, insomnia.

Tonos puts the brain into deep rest while alert: the body relaxes, consciousness remains active. A "soft reboot" that, in 20 minutes, eliminates tension, restores focus and reduces cortisol.

It is not hypnosis, it is a specific technique that reprograms how the nervous system responds to stress.

The method is taught in individual sessions or small groups. It starts with an interview to understand specific needs. In the practical class (90 min.), the student learns the complete method. Then: check-in, theoretical classes and weekly reviews in the first month to build the habit.

The goal is to teach a tool that the person uses alone, anywhere, every day.

The Caito Maia case

Among her students is Caito Maia, founder of Chilli Beans. Always synonymous with speed and energy, Caito turned his brand into a cultural phenomenon. But that speed had its price.

When he sought out Elisa, he was at the top, but anxiety was always there — that feeling of being constantly at the limit.

"He arrived a hostage to his own speed," Elisa recalls.

Caito was resistant at first. Today, the practice is part of his daily routine. "It was like swapping the noise of urgency for the sound of purpose. My decisions became clearer. I was able to separate urgent from important."

What changes

In the first weeks: better sleep, less irritability, more presence. The deep impact appears later: the relationship with time changes. The feeling of always running disappears.

"My goal is to give emotional freedom to those who want to keep performing at a high level, without self-destructing," says Elisa.

Tonos in companies: NR-01 and accessibility

Companies are adopting Tonos not as a fad, but for concrete results. Anxious employees are expensive: productivity drops, errors, turnover, absences.

The Tonos corporate program complies with NR-01 (the Brazilian Regulatory Standard that establishes guidelines on mental health and management of psychosocial risks at work), positioning itself as a strategic tool for prevention and care of employees' mental health.

The program follows a specific methodology: informative lecture, individual interviews, groups of up to 5 people and six-month follow-up. Companies report reduced absenteeism, improved organizational climate and increased productivity.

The necessary counter-narrative

While the corporate world confuses exhaustion with dedication, Elisa represents something urgent: performing without destroying yourself.

"We need to rethink the culture that being exhausted means being committed. Twenty minutes of brain reset per day is not a luxury — it is essential maintenance for those who want to perform well in the long run.

From the personal experience of almost losing herself to anxiety to teaching more than 6,000 people, Elisa has created a movement of leaders who understand that true success starts from the inside out.

Cases like Caito Maia's prove it: it is possible to be a giant on stage and find peace backstage. You just need to learn how to do the reset.

"In the first session, I felt as if I had slept deeply, but I was completely conscious. It was real brain reset," Elisa says.
